Lake Loon

Hello friends.

I hope the week is off to a good start for you.

It's Dare to Get Dirty Challenge time at Splitcoaststampers
and my good friend Nancy is hosting a challenge there.
This is a week long event each year where the past and present Dirty Dozen
members issue challenges to Fan Club members.

There are lots of prizes to be given out.

If you are a member of the SCS Fan Club you can join in
and find the challenge here.

Imagine my surprise when I saw this card by Marcia in the gallery.

I wondered when I had posted that card?  I looked closer and saw that it
wasn't my card at all but we had the same idea.

So I decided to wait and post it later.

The background is  tissue paper that I I spritzed with water and balled up.

I let it dry all balled up and when it was dry, I opened it and dabbed ink
on it with a sponge.

I did a piece with Calypso Coral and Crushed Curry and
another with blues.

Loll had sent me this awesome die cut a while back.
Thank you my friend.

Hello there.

I'm so glad you came for a visit!

This beautiful flower was stamped and heat embossed.

I used wet on wet watercolor for the flowers and leaves then fussy cut them out.

The Altenew July 2017 Inspiration Challenge
has this picture for inspiration.
I was inspired by the pink flowers.

A different kind of rose though.

EDITED TO ADD

I had already entered a card there but think I can enter again.

Tissue Paper with Tim Holtz

Hi there.

I have one more tissue paper card (for now) to share with you.

I had seen this tissue paper by Tim Holtz and was intrigued about it.

It's quite heavy for tissue and coated so it acts differently than regular tissue paper
but it was fun to use nonetheless.

I cut a piece and glued it on a piece of cardstock with Distress Collage Matte Medium.

Since one of the requirements at CAS Mix Up is to use stamping, I thought
I'd stamp a flower on the tissue.

I had the Light Touch stamp out for another project so I inked it up
with some Festive Berries and Mowed Lawn Distress ink and stamped it in the corner.
I masked the edges with sticky notes so the flower would only be on the design part.

I let it dry, or thought I did.

Unfortunately, the coating on the tissue or the Matte Medium kept it from
drying like I though it would.  So smudges ensued!

Drat!

Out came the splatters.

It's amazing how they can make a smudge look like it was done on purpose!

The background butterfly is cut from vellum with a black topper.

The whole design is popped up on fun foam.

is open until the 24th.
I used tissue paper, stamping, splattering, die cuts and vellum.

Challenge is open until the 24th.

This printed tissue was fun, but I think the tissue leftover from packages
is just as much fun.

I just may go and stamp some.....

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

The CAS Watercolour Challenge is  open until the 24th.

M is for..... Matching pair and/or the colour of  orange peel.

Thank You

Hello dear friends.

Thank you so much for all your birthday wishes!

It was a really special day, made more special by your blog wishes
and the amazing array of gorgeous handmade cards!

My mantel is full of beautiful cards and DH commented that
he didn't think I could fit another up there!

I had my watercolors out last week and found some Altenew flowers
that had been embossed on mixed media paper.

I painted them with the wet on wet technique then fussy cut them.

The piece peeking through the window is dry embossed.
Looks like tissue doesn't it?

Penny Black Watercolor Butterfly

Hi Ya'll.

It's reminder time for CAS Watercolour

To make this butterfly, I smooshed some tissue in ink that had been
laid down with distress inks and smooshed.

I really liked how it looked after it dried so I glued it to a piece of cardstock.

This Penny Black die was perfect to cut it out.

I wanted a little glitz so I die cut the body from a snippet of gold foil
and the sentiment from another.

The background was made by masking the card front and
stamping the music score.

There's still time to join in at CAS Watercolour
with your watercolor butterflies

and there's still time to join in at
with your tissue paper creations.
My mixed media are tissue paper, stamping, watercoloring, masking and die cuts

Both Challenges are open until the 24th.

More Tissue Paper Techniques for CAS Mix Up

Hello friends.

It's the middle of the month and there's still time to
play with tissue paper for
CAS Mix Up

Here's a little something to hopefully inspire you.

I have to confess that I didn't do this tissue paper piece.

My friend and teammate, Nancy, sent me some of her pieces using
tissue paper and acetate.

I think this is what she considers the back side but I
loved the crinkles from the tissue and the way the green shows through
so I decided to use it back side forward.

I used a palette knife to rub some Inka Gold on the raised crinkles.

While that was drying, I die cut the two smallest stitched butterflies
and watercolored them with Distress Oxide ink smooshed on a
palette and picked up with an Aqua Painter.

I thought this butterfly needed some flowers so I
used a flower from my NBUS Mini Bouquet set.
Inked it up with Distress markers and stamped.

I used the rest of the tissue paper-acetate piece to make this card....

Loll had sent me this die cut of the trees that was perfect against this sparkly background!

A big thanks to both of my friends!

I lifted the whole design on fun foam for added dimension.

I had stamped the flower on a little piece to test it.
I couldn't let that little piece go to waste so
I have a threefer.

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Inlaid Flower Dance

Hi.

How are you today?

This die is called "Shall We Dance"
It looks like these flowers are dancing in the wind doesn't it?

The die was cut from some mixed media paper
and watercolored with Distress markers and my Aqua Painter.

Wilted Violet seems to be my favorite color right now.

After watercoloring, I inlaid it back in the negative, stamped a
sentiment, adhered it to some foam and to the card front.

Oh, I added a few splatters, pearls and a butterfly too.

This was a birthday card for my special friend, Loll
and she finally received it.
It started out early and became belated.

Memory Box Dragonfly Corner

Hello, my friends.

I'm trying to use some of my NBUS dies and had some fun with this one.

I die cut the Dragonfly Corner from an Alcohol Inked piece, die cut a frame to fit it into
and backed it with a piece of tissue paper scrunched and glued to cardstock.

The whole design piece is backed with foam to add dimension.

There's so many wonderful tissue paper cards in the

Tissue Paper and Wildflowers for CAS Mix Up

Hello there.

I have a super easy card to share today.

I used a super simple technique.

I tore some tissue paper and crumpled it up in my hands.

After straightening it out some and tearing a piece off,
I placed a frame cut from Glimmer Paper over it.

Then I added a die cut sent to me by my dear friend Nancy.

I added a sentiment stamped and heat embossed in white on a black snippet.

Couldn't be easier.

My mixed media are tissue paper, stamping, heat embossing and die cuts.

There are several different techniques using tissue paper and you
can find how to videos at CAS Mix Up.

It's a really fun technique and a good way to use that crinkled tissue paper!

Thanks for the visit and special thanks for your comments.

Enjoy!

Celebrating Independence Day

Hello.

Happy Independence Day
if you live in the USA.

And I hope my Canadian friends had a wonderful Canada Day!

This is a CASE of a card by my good friend LeAnne.
Thanks for the inspiration, my friend!

The main image was an ATC card done for the June swap
for my crafty ladies group.

I've stamped on Naturals White and Cherry Cobbler snippets
with my Woodgrain background stamp, then cut both into strips.

I used a new embossing folder, Pinewood Planks for the background
and added even more texture with corrugated cardboard and burlap ribbon.

I also want to share the bounty my friend Candee (Card Corner by Candee) brought me.

Everything was full of candy.  Appropriate don't you think?
She also knows my favorite treat and spoils me.
You can see how she made these goodies here
While you're there check out her other posts.
Candee has some awesome organizational hints and lots of creative cards and projects!
